Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kametstal plant of Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group, created at the facilities of the Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (Kamianskoe, Dnipropetrovsk region), in January-June 2022, smelted 1.057 million tonnes of steel, while for the same period last year, the company produced 1.31 million tonnes of this product.
According to the company, Illich Steel in the current year, before Metinvest Group lost control over it, smelted 672,000 tonnes of steel, the Azovstal steel plant – 683,000 tonnes (in January-June 2021, Illich Steel smelted 2.118 million tonnes, Azovstal – 2.240 million tonnes).
At the same time, it is recalled that on February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. As a result, Metinvest decided to suspend the production activities of its assets in Mariupol, Avdiyivka and Zaporizhia, including Azovstal, Illich Iron and Steel Works, Avdiyivka Coke and Chemical Plant and Zaporizhia Coke and Chemical Plant.
Subsequently, the group’s plants in Zaporizhia resumed their production activities.
As a result of the hostilities, the group’s facilities in Mariupol and Avdiyivka were damaged, and Mariupol was temporarily occupied.
