MHP Eco Energy will receive EUR 1.37 mln grant from EC to develop biomethane, 'green' hydrogen production

KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PrJSC MHP Eco Energy, engaged in the implementation and management of projects in the field of energy and ecology in MHP agricultural holding, has concluded an agreement to receive grant funding in the amount of EUR 1.367 million provided under the Horizon EUR ope research and innovation program of the EUR opean Commission.

The holding’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine the proceeds will be used to develop new innovative projects for the production of biomethane and green hydrogen in the EU and Ukraine within four years.

According to its data, a group of experts has been assembled to implement the program, which, in particular, includes representatives of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (BAU) and EUR opean research centers. Over the next four years, they will work to improve the efficiency of biomethane production and green hydrogen biomepthanization technologies to replace natural gas consumption and reduce the energy dependence of the Ukrainian and EU economies.

Horizon EUR ope is a seven-year EU research program developed and approved by the EUR opean Commission, which provides for a 50% increase in EU science funding during 2021-2027 in order to overcome the crises caused by the spread of COVID-19 and other global challenges.

MHP Eco Energy is a separate division of MHP holding, founded in 2012. It is engaged in the production of biogas, the wholesale trade of solid, liquid, gaseous fuels and similar products, as well as electricity generation.
