Military aid to Ukraine doesn't raise questions in USA; discussions are on budgetary, humanitarian ones – Markarova

KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – When discussing the U.S. assistance to Ukraine for 2024, there are no discussions on the “armed” component, but they are on budgetary and humanitarian assistance, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova said on Facebook.

“The good news is that there are almost no discussions on the armed component. Of the complex ones: the most heated discussions are around direct budgetary assistance, humanitarian, as well as around the issue of policies and funds for the southern border of the United States – an issue that has nothing to do with Ukraine, but is tied to the aid package to Ukraine, Israel and the South Pacific aid,” she said.

“The position of Ukraine and our friends: we need all the help (safe, direct budgetary, reconstruction, energy and humanitarian), and we need it ‘yesterday,’ but as soon as possible. This ‘as soon as possible’ could be after Congress returns to work after Thanksgiving in late November – December,” the ambassador said.

According to her, “the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States and the entire TeamUkraine, all delegations from Ukraine and all telephone/video contacts are actively working to convey the issue of the urgency of assistance and the importance of all its components. We do this both in Washington and in the regions.”

The ambassador called on American Ukrainians to “call/write to their senators and congressmen and convey that Ukraine needs full support for 2024 and that Time is of the essence.”
