KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrainian Distribution Grids acquired the rights of a shareholder of state-owned shares of five more distribution system operators (DSO): JSC Zaporizhiaoblenergo, JSC Ternopiloblenergo, PJSC Cherkasyoblenergo, JSC Kharkivoblenergo and JSC Sumyoblenergo.
Thus, Ukrainian Distribution Grids has already become a shareholder in seven DSOs, since at the time of the company’s creation it included state-owned stakes in JSC Khmelnytskoblenergo and JSC Mykolaivoblenergo, according to a press release from the Ministry of Energy.
“Our main task is to strengthen the energy security of the state. High-quality, systematic work of the operators of the electricity distribution system is a component that is extremely important in the context of military challenges,” Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko, whose words are quoted in the press release, said.
He said that systemic cooperation between operators, a unified technical policy, and unification of requirements for the procurement of electrical power equipment are important for obtaining the necessary international assistance, both humanitarian and through the Energy Support Fund, which will help increase the efficiency of their work and the reliability of the services provided.
“The goal of Ukrainian Distribution Grids is to consolidate efforts to attract the best world practices for the development of the grid economy of Ukraine. We must jointly find and implement new technological solutions, formulate a unified technical policy to increase the level of sustainability of the power system. And also create conditions for reliable, efficient operation and development of DSO in the context of transformation of the power market, integration with the unified energy system of Europe,” acting Director General of Ukrainian Distribution Grids Artem Martyniuk said.
