CHISINAU. Oct 27 (Interfax) – Moldova’s state-owned Energocom and Bulgaria’s Bulgartransgaz have signed a contract for the transport of gas through the Bulgarian company’s gas transmission network.
The signing took place during Bulgarian President Rumen Radev’s visit to Moldova. "For us, this means conditions for the transit of gas that we will be able to get elsewhere. And in a period convenient to us. This means that we are creating the technical conditions for purchases from other sources," Moldovan President Maia Sandu said at a joint press conference.
Radev said that 3 billion cubic meters of gas are transported between Bulgaria and Romania every year. "The physical capabilities [the throughput capacity of Bulgaria’s gas transmission system] are more than enough for the transit of gas from Bulgaria to Moldova. This means that this contract allows access to the liquefied gas in the terminals of Greece and Turkey," Radev said, adding that Moldova will be able to purchase gas and Bulgaria transport it.
