Mortgage market to remain inactive until end of war – NBU

KYIV. Dec 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The mortgage market will remain inactive until the end of the war due to high risks, follows from the report of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on financial stability for December 2022.

As noted in the document, from March to September 2022, there were almost no new mortgage lending, loans were sporadic. In September-October, a little more than 100 mortgage loans were issued with an average volume of about UAH 1 million, almost all of them in the secondary market.

The NBU predicts that the mortgage market will remain inactive until the end of the war due to high risks. Government programs to support lending Affordable Mortgage and e-Oselia, which offer reduced interest rates of 7% and 3% per annum, respectively can somewhat increase the demand for mortgage.
