NACP excludes three Greek carrier companies from the list of intl sponsors of war

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has excluded three Greek shipping companies from the list of international war sponsors.

“It concerns Thenamaris Ships Management Inc., Minerva Marine and TMC Tankers Ltd. The decision was made after the companies stopped transporting Russian oil,” the NACP press service said.

In the summer of 2022, NACP granted the status of sponsors of war to five Greek companies, including Minerva Marine, Thenamaris and TMS Tankers. They transported Russian oil and petroleum products, thereby replenishing the budget of the Russian Federation and financing Russian aggression.

“Russia has always used energy resources, in particular oil, as a weapon. This still allows the Russian Federation to influence other states, even despite the sanctions imposed on it. It is important that more and more international companies refuse to cooperate with Russia, especially in the oil sector. In “First of all, this weakens the economic capabilities of the aggressor’s military machine. And here we are talking not only about the common decency and responsibility of such companies, but also about the opportunity not to fall under sanctions,” Head of NACP Oleksandr Novikov said.
