Naftogaz, Ukrenergo to receive grant financing in addition to loans – EBRD

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Energy security is one of the key priorities of the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBRD) in its ongoing work with Ukraine, and in addition to lending, the bank is facilitating grant assistance for these purposes, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Matteo Patrone has said.

At the Ukrainian Investment Roadshow conference held last week in London, he recalled that the EBRD provided EUR 300 million to NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy for the purchase of gas, and a large donation as a grant is expected early this week, perhaps the relevant documents will be signed already in Monday.

Patrone added that the bank had also previously provided EUR 150 million to Ukrenergo to maintain liquidity, and this week its board of directors plans to approve another major support package for Ukrenergo, "which will be part loan and part grant from another donor.
