New border crossing to be opened on border of Hungary, Ukraine, bridge planned to be built across Tysa – Szijjártó

KYIV. Jan 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A new border crossing will be opened on the border of Hungary and Ukraine, and it is also planned to build a new bridge across the Tysa, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said.

“This has almost already been achieved. We will open a new border crossing on the border of Hungary and Ukraine. This means that we will be able to facilitate the work at those checkpoints that currently exist,” Szijjártó said at a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba and head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak in Uzhgorod on Monday.

In addition, as Szijjártó said, they agreed on the expansion of road and rail crossings in Beregsurány and Zahony, as well as on the general goal of building a new bridge over the Tysa.

“I thanked my Ukrainian colleagues for guaranteeing us a reliable transit route for crude oil supplies over the past two years. I asked that this be preserved and asked my Ukrainian colleagues to ensure the correct working conditions for Hungarian companies present on the Ukrainian market,” the minister added.

Szijjártó stressed that the purpose of the visit to Uzhgorod is to restore trust in bilateral relations between Hungary and Ukraine and indicated that “it was possible to take steps in this direction.”
