KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JV Nibulon LLC (Mykolaiv), one of the largest operators in the grain market of Ukraine, intends to build an elevator and a high-tech mill on the basis of its Bessarabsky branch (Izmail port) in order to increase shipments from a record 170,000 tonnes of grain per month to a potential 300,000 tonnes, the company said on Facebook.
“To realize this potential, Nibulon is considering the possibility of building a full-fledged elevator at the location, designed for the simultaneous storage of 118,500 tonnes of grain, as well as a high-tech modern mill with a capacity of 750 tonnes per day,” said the director for interaction with authorities and issues of sustainable development of the enterprise, Mykhailo Rizak, during a visit of U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink to the branch.
Nibulon notes that the new mill will be able to work both for the needs of the domestic consumer in Ukraine and serve the interests of the UN World Food Program (WFP) food security mission.
“Now WFP uses the processing capacities of Turkey, sending Ukrainian grain there through the “grain corridor.” But it is also possible to transport ready-made flour, bran and other grain processing products from Ukraine,” Rizak explained.
Nibulon was established in 1991. Prior to the Russian military invasion, the grain trader had 27 transshipment terminals and complexes for receiving agricultural crops, a capacity for simultaneous storage of 2.25 million tonnes of agricultural products, a fleet of 83 ships (including 23 tugboats), and also owned Mykolaiv Shipyard.
