KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The number of loans issued by banks under the state guarantee program on a portfolio basis continues to decrease for the fourth month in a row: in October this figure was 527, which is 280 loans, or 34.7%, less than in September, the Ministry of Finance said on Friday.
According to published information, the volume of loans issued also decreased by 31%, from UAH 2.9 billion in September to UAH 2 billion in October, and the share of principal debt obligations guaranteed by the state amounted to more than UAH 1 billion compared to UAH 1.7 billion in the month previously.
“As part of supporting micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, since the beginning of the use of the instrument of state guarantees on a portfolio basis, some 30,851 loans have been issued since December 2020 for a total amount of UAH 96.9 billion,” the department said.
It is reported that as of November 1, 2023, some 29 creditor banks are servicing 17,592 loans worth UAH 62.7 billion. Principal debt obligations, which are partially secured by government guarantees on a portfolio basis, amounted to about UAH 30.4 billion, or about 69% of the total limit of provided guarantees (UAH 43.9 billion).
In terms of the number of loans under the state guarantee program serviced as of October 1 of this year, the state-owned PrivatBank is in the lead: more than 12,000 loans worth UAH 22 billion, which is 71% of the limit of such guarantees provided to this bank. A month earlier, these figures were significantly higher some 17,500 loans worth UAH 25.7 billion.
This is also followed by the state-owned Oschadbank almost 2,300 loans totalling UAH 10 billion, or 85% of the bank’s limit; in October the number of loans decreased by 140 in the amount of UAH 300 million.
