Polish FM in Kyiv: We must restore conditions of fair competition in trade so everyone gets benefits

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Radosław Sikorski stated the need to restore conditions of fair competition in trade between the two countries so that everyone receives benefits.

“Yes, you are right: there are always some issues between neighbors that need to be resolved. Issues related either to history or to current affairs. I am accompanied today by the Deputy Ministers of Transport and Agriculture. We must return the conditions of fair competition. Yes, so that everyone benefits from trade and transportation,” Sikorski said at a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv.

The minister also said he believes that “our negotiations can help resolve problematic issues.”

“But in any case, Poland will actually resolve controversial issues with the European institutions. This will lead to the fact that, approaching Poland’s EU presidency in just over a year, we will be in a much better position to do for you what we did in 2011 Let me remind you: then, during Poland’s chairmanship, we completed the preparation of the text of the Association Agreement with Ukraine,” the head of the Foreign Ministry said.
