Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In Ukraine, oil producers are overloaded with raw materials, which has caused a collapse in domestic purchase prices for sunflower seeds; the sunflower market will hit the price bottom in mid-October, the Start analytical cooperative, created within the framework of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC) has reported.
“In the country, crushing plants began to collapse sunflower prices, since they had contracted the necessary volumes of raw materials for September. There are plants stocked with oilseeds a month in advance, others – for one or two weeks. Accordingly, processors will buy raw materials in a wide price range of UAH 10,500-12,500 per tonne,” the analysts said, expressing hope that in the first weeks of October the market will see the lowest prices for sunflower.
According to the experts, despite the ban on sunflower imports to five neighboring EU countries, Bulgaria contracts Ukrainian sunflower and many agreements have already been concluded. Although Bulgaria has not officially announced the upcoming lifting of bans on the import of Ukrainian grain, trade in this direction is very active.
“A certain decline in prices for vegetable oils on the global market will support the existing downward price trend on the Ukrainian sunflower market,” UAC said.
