KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Prometey group of companies has opened an office in Egypt, which allows it to monthly sell 100,000-150,000 tonnes of grains and oilseeds, the company’s chairman of the board Rafael Goroyan said at the international conference "Black Sea Grain & Oil 2023. The Way to Recovery."
“Distribution turned out to be very profitable, because logistics to Egypt from Ukraine during the war across the Danube is the shortest distance. Plus, we sell (agricultural goods) for Egyptian pounds, we have relationships with local agricultural producers, buyers and federal corporations,” said Goroyan.
According to his information, the Egyptian office sells 50-60% of agricultural products imported from Ukraine. The rest of the goods are purchased from Brazil, Argentina, and a number of European countries.
“The Egyptian office is actively competing with Russia and its products in Africa, whose sales are not so good due to sanctions,” Goroyan explained.
“My project during the war became a serious challenge for our company. We were very quickly able to optimize our efforts, quickly shifted all long-term plans, investments and dreams. We took up optimization and raised it to a very serious level,” he explained.
According to his information, at the beginning of the war, the Prometey structure operated 34 elevators in Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Khmelnytsky, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Odesa, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the capacity of which reached 2 million tonnes. During the war, eight elevators ended up in the occupied territories. After de-occupation, four of them were returned.
