Prosecutor's office again trying to seize land of PrivatBank in Bukovel

KYIV. Oct 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The prosecutor’s office of Ivano-Frankivsk region filed claims in Polianytsia village council of Nadvirna district against PrivatBank and individuals in order to return two land plots owned by the state bank in the Bukovel resort in the village of Polianytsia to the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, the bank reports.

“On October 25, 2023, the Yaremche City Court of Ivano-Frankivsk region will consider two cases on the claim of the regional prosecutor’s office for the return of land plots in Bukovel to state ownership,” the bank’s press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the financial institution’s lawyers, a paradoxical situation has arisen when government officials, after more than 20 years, are trying to protect the state interests by depriving the state bank of ownership rights not only to land, but also to property acquired by it legally on the basis of a paid transaction.

“This case could lead to the loss of the bank’s ownership rights to the objects of the Bukovel resort complex, which will cause significant damage to the state represented by the state bank,” Privatbank points out.

The financial institution recalls that the prosecutor’s office of Ivano-Frankivsk region filed lawsuits regarding three plots in Bukovel, but in July of this year, PrivatBank, having won in court, defended its ownership of one of them.

The third parties in the upcoming trial are Zirka Bukovel LLC and the National Bank of Ukraine.
