KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian parliament has a lot of work to do to adapt national legislation to the legislation of the European Union, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk has said.
“We have a huge amount of work ahead of us to adapt national legislation to EU legislation. But this work is our strategic goal, which was determined by the people of Ukraine,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada apparatus quoted Stefanchuk’s comment on the European Commission’s recommendation to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Stefanchuk is convinced that the recommendation of the European Commission will become the main one for the leaders of the European Union when making a political decision in December this year on the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU.
“As a candidate for EU membership, Ukraine has demonstrated its ability to effectively move towards its goal. We are doing this even in the face of the unprecedented challenges of the full-scale war that Russia is waging against us,” Stefanchuk said.
