Rada propose to unify procedure for considering bills on adapting Ukrainian legislation to European

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The leadership of the Verkhovna Rada proposes to the parliament to unify the procedure for considering bills on adapting Ukrainian legislation to European ones.

According to the website of the legislative body, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, his first deputy and deputy Oleksandr Korniyenko and Olena Kondratiuk on Monday registered bill No. 8242 on amendments to the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada on the introduction, consideration and adoption of bills aimed at adapting the legislation of Ukraine to the provisions of the law of the European Union (EU acquis) in terms of meeting Ukraine’s international legal obligations in the field of European integration.

The bill proposes to include in the agenda of the extraordinary session without voting bills aimed at adapting Ukrainian legislation to the provisions of European Union law. The document also proposes to allow additional accompanying documents to be submitted to such bills, both at the time of their registration and at all subsequent stages of passage in parliament. The bill also provides for additional examinations on the compliance of European integration bills with Ukraine’s international legal obligation in the field of European integration and European Union rights in the Verkhovna Rada committee, which is responsible for such an assessment. The bill also proposes to provide an opportunity to improve the text of the bill prepared for consideration for the second reading based on the comments made in the conclusions of the additional examination of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and/or the relevant committee.
