KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada proposes to transfer more than UAH 41 million, additionally saved by the parliament this year, to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“In 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine additionally saved more than UAH 40 million and proposes to redirect these funds to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the press service of the Verkhovna Rada apparatus reported on Wednesday.
As the press service clarified, for ten months of this year the amount of savings amounted to UAH 41.3 million. In particular, more than UAH 11 million were saved on wages for MPs, and more than UAH 9 million were saved by reducing the consumption of electricity, heat and water, which accordingly reduced payments for utilities and energy.
“Since the beginning of full-scale military aggression, the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has been guided by the principle of maximum savings in financial and logistical support for the activities of parliament,” head of the apparatus Viacheslav Shtuchny said.
The Verkhovna Rada apparatus has already appealed to the Ministry of Finance with a request to redirect the saved funds to the needs of the security and defense forces.
The press service recalled that in the first half of 2023, the Verkhovna Rada apparatus also saved funds in the amount of UAH 30 million, which had already been transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
