KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Exports of Ukrainian dairy products in value terms in October 2022 decreased by 29.1% compared to the previous month, to $25.5 million, in natural terms, by 30%, to 9,000 tonnes.
The main reason for this fall of the indicator was the fall in prices for dairy products on the world market and the influence of the seasonal factor, according to the website of the Association of Milk Producers.
According to it, the export of drinking milk in October 2022 amounted to 2,700 tonnes, which is in line with the figures of the previous month. Export proceeds from deliveries amounted to $1.4 million, which is 2% more than in September. It is specified that 98% of deliveries are sent to Moldova.
Exports of milk powder and condensed milk in October decreased by 57.5% in natural terms, to 2,100 tonnes, and to $6.5 million in value terms due to the accumulation of large stocks of milk powder in the EU. In particular, only 280 tonnes of the product were exported to Poland compared to 1,040 tonnes in September.
The association clarified that the export of dairy products in October decreased by 28.2% in tonnage – to 234.8 tonnes and by 41.7% in terms of revenue – to $353,600. Some 90% of the deliveries of this group of goods were sent to Moldova.
In addition, in October, whey sales sank by half compared to September – to 989.7 tonnes (less by 49.5%) in physical terms and $973,300 (down 47.7%) in value terms. The main buyers were China (525 tonnes) and Vietnam (250 tonnes).
"The export of butter did not decrease so significantly. Poland, the main importer of domestic butter, reduced the volume by a third in October due to the rise in price of the Ukrainian product and high stocks within the country itself. In total, 1,700 tonnes of butter were exported (down 12% compared to September) for a total value of $10 million (down 10.91%)," the organization said.
