Rosatom forced to allow about 800 workers who refused to sign contracts with it to work at Zaporizhia NPP – Energoatom

KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), occupied by Russian aggressors, there are about 800 workers left who have not signed contracts with Rosatom, President of Energoatom Petro Kotin said.

“There are approximately 800 people of our Ukrainian personnel, patriots who do not sign these shameful contracts with the Russians. In fact, these 800 people are the most qualified personnel, whose services the Russians cannot refuse. It is on them that nuclear and radiation safety at the Zaporizhia NPP now rests,” he said on the air of the national telethon on Tuesday.

At the same time, he noted that the number of signed contracts from among the Ukrainian personnel of Zaporizhia NPP remains at the level of 3,000.

According to him, there are not enough workers at the plant, Ukrainian personnel are under pressure from the occupiers, and “Russian personnel are not very willing to listen to Rosatom in order to go to Zaporizhia NPP.”

“People are recruited to the plant who do not have the level of responsibility and professionalism necessary to work at such a facility,” Kotin emphasized.

Describing the overall situation at the Zaporizhia NPP, the head of Energoatom indicated that it is connected to the Ukrainian energy system, consumes about 100 MW from it, but only two power transmission lines are in operating condition.

“This is also a cause for concern, because if these lines are damaged, the plant will go into blackout mode, of which there have already been seven. The situation at the plant is worsening in all directions,” the top manager concluded.
