Shmyhal on new Russian missile attack: We see it as another attempt of genocide against Ukrainian people

KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian government regards today’s Russian missile attack on the country as another attempt to commit genocide against the Ukrainian people, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

"Today, the Russian terrorist shelled our energy infrastructure facilities for the ninth time already. We regard these terrorist activities of the Russian leadership as another attempt to commit genocide against the Ukrainian people. Our air defense forces were on the top as always and did not let the enemy to immerse us into the darkness. They shot down 76 of 60 missiles. Thank you to the defenders of the Ukrainian sky," the prime minister said at a meeting of the government on Friday.

He also said that the Ukrainian defenders need more weapons and power engineers need more equipment.

"Again, we have damaged energy facilities: high-voltage substations and generation. Again, there is a serious shortage of capacity in the power grid. Emergency power outages have been introduced almost all over the country," he said.
