State Fisheries Agency transfers Tamansky tanker to bareboat charter for $14,280 per month

KYIV. Dec 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On December 19, the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine leased the Tamansky tanker vessel for five years on a bareboat charter (freight without a crew), the winner of the auction in the Prozorro.Sales system was Legal Firm Assignment LLC (Kyiv).

As reported on the agency’s website on Tuesday, the monthly freight rate is $14,280 per month.

The agency said that chartering through an online auction significantly increases the efficiency of state property management, since now all costs associated with the operation and repair of the vessel (except for partial compensation for the first repair) are borne by the charterer, which was not the case before.

"It is important that this condition of the contract completely destroyed the possible corruption component and leveled the possibility of abuse by the charterer and the shipowner when agreeing and making compensation for any repairs and other operating expenses. For the entire chartering period, the vessel was permanently under the effect of the Shipping Register of Ukraine and the right to sail exclusively under the flag of Ukraine," the State Fisheries Agency said in a statement.

The agency recalled that earlier the tanker was on a bareboat charter with the Oil and Gas Center for Security and Training LLC, but the contract was terminated unilaterally due to a violation of the terms of the contract by the charterer.
