KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna called the continuation of reforms a key expectation of the European Commission from Ukraine.
“And the President [Ursula von der Leyen] said this, and the report has this position – we are talking about the fact that reforms should continue, this is a key expectation from Ukraine, they should be increased, their strengthening should be ensured. We are working on it,” Stefanishyna said on the air of the national telethon on Wednesday.
As reported, on November 8, the European Commission recommended that the European Council begin negotiations with Ukraine on membership in the European Union. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that if the EU Council opens negotiations with Ukraine on EU accession, work on the process can immediately start.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal says that the recommendations of the European Commission are of key importance for the adoption by EU leaders in December of a political decision to start negotiations with Ukraine.
