KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The TAS Agro group of companies made the first shipment of 1,500 tonnes of rapeseed oil to consumers from China, the press service of the agricultural holding reported on Facebook.
It is clarified that for the second year in a row TAS Agro has been processing rapeseed, sunflower and soybeans on a toll basis at partner factories. As explained in the agricultural holding, in conditions of low profitability, increasing the added value of products through the development of processing is almost the only way to achieve a positive result.
“The realities of wartime force farmers to change, be flexible, and look for new strategic solutions. The TAS Agro company made the right decision – to go into rapeseed processing, since it is more profitable to sell oil than raw materials. For our agricultural holding, last season was the first experience in processing, at the same time, the financial results are positive,” said Anton Zhemerdeyev, the deputy general director for commercial affairs.
According to him, the agricultural holding has replenished its team with specialists in a new direction and is currently focused on extending logistics to end consumers and opening new markets to obtain additional margins.
TAS Group was founded in 1998. The scope of its business interests covers the financial sector (banking and insurance segments) and pharmacy, as well as industry, real estate, and venture projects.
Before the war, TAS Agro cultivated 83,000 hectares in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, was engaged in dairy farming (up to 5,500 cows), owned six elevators with a one-time capacity storage of 250,000 tonnes.
