KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Tax revenues from tourist accommodation facilities increased in 10 regions of Ukraine in January-March 2023, the press service of the State Tourism Development Agency reported.
As specified, Chernivtsi region (98%) paid the most to the state budget. Hotels in the region paid UAH 5.152 million to the state budget versus UAH 2.6 million for the same period in 2022. In 2021, the budget received the same amount from Bukovyna as in the previous year.
Hotels in Rivne region in the first quarter of 2023 paid UAH 3.430 million in taxes to the budget, which is 17% higher than the figure for the same period in 2022 (UAH 2.938 million).
Lviv region is also among the leaders in paying taxes, where in the first three months of the year the budget received UAH 60.434 million in taxes, which is 16% more than in 2022 – UAH 52.06 million, and 59% more than in 2021 – UAH 37.9 million.
Zhytomyr region paid 16% more taxes than in the same period in 2022 – UAH 2.279 million versus UAH 1.970 million – and only 4% more than in the COVID 2021 (UAH 2.200 million).
Zakarpattia showed an increase of 15% compared to 2022 (UAH 16.842 million versus UAH 14.629 million), and compared to 2021 – by 46%.
Tax revenues from accommodation facilities in Khmelnytsky region increased by 4% since the beginning of this year compared to the same period in 2022: UAH 4.3 million was paid versus UAH 4.123 million. Compared to 2021, the amount paid increased by 30% (UAH 3.3 million).
At the beginning of the year, Dnipropetrovsk region paid 4% more taxes (UAH 13.268 million) than in 2022 (UAH 12.759 million) and 5% less (UAH 14 million) than in the first quarter of 2021.
At the same time, Volyn region recorded a slight increase in tax revenues from the tourism industry by 2% (UAH 2.503 million) compared to 2022 (UAH 2.451 million). Compared to 2021, the tax increase amounted to 39% (UAH 1.8 million).
Since the beginning of the year, Vinnytsia region paid a tax on the activities of tourist accommodation facilities almost equal to that in 2022 – UAH 4.384 million versus UAH 4.353 million (growth – 1%). Compared to the pre-war 2021, growth was recorded at the level of 7% (UAH 4.1 million).
A slight increase in tourist taxes was recorded in Kirovohrad region: since the beginning of this year, UAH 2.291 million was paid versus UAH 2.290 million for the same period in 2022. However, if we compare this amount with 2021, then it is 24% less (UAH 3 million).
As the agency notes, the largest decline in tax revenues to the budget from the tourism industry is expectedly recorded in six regions of Ukraine located in the zone of active hostilities: in Luhansk region by 100%, Kherson by 97%, Donetsk by 87%, Zaporizhia by 79%, Mykolaiv by 67% and Kharkiv by 54%.
