UAC records 430 agricultural facilities affected by Russian aggression

KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – An interactive map of the destruction of the agricultural sector of Ukraine today contains data on 430 destroyed facilities and 49 enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, which is respectively 151 and 19 facilities more than at the time of its presentation in early November 2022.

The relevant data is presented on the website of the map.agrirecovery.com.ua project, launched by the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC) public organization with the support of the USAID Program for Agrarian and Rural Development (AGRO) to demonstrate the real damage caused to Ukrainian agriculture by Russian aggression.

According to the interactive map, to date, it has included information on 430 agro-industrial objects damaged due to Russian aggression, of which 280 facilities are lands littered with ammunition, mines or damaged military equipment, 71 administrative and utility buildings, 28 units of agricultural machinery and agricultural equipment, 14 vehicles, 12 warehouses, 10 livestock complexes and seven granaries.

At the same time, among the most war-damaged land plots from those marked on the map are in Kherson region (137 plots), while in Kharkiv region, administrative and utility buildings (39 units), agricultural machinery (22 units), transport (9 units) suffered more than other regions; granaries were damaged in Donetsk region(7 units), livestock complexes in Sumy region (2 units).

At the same time, 79 objects of the agricultural sector were marked as completely destroyed, 65 received medium damage, and 286 received minor damage.

According to the map, destruction was recorded in 42 territorial communities throughout the country.

"The recorded facts of military destruction and the collected documents can later be used to compensate for the corresponding damage both through appealing to international instances (a specially created tribunal, the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the European Court of Human Rights, investment arbitration, etc.), and through the application internal programs and procedures in Ukraine (in particular, going to court)," the project’s website said.

It is important for farmers to record the damage from Russian aggression now, collect the necessary evidence and be ready to go through the procedure for determining compensation in the future, when the relevant procedures will be developed by all relevant authorities.
