Ukraine exports 18 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/23 – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – From the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (July-June) and until December 2, Ukraine exported 18.08 million tonnes of grain crops, of which 9.66 million tonnes of corn (53.4% of total supplies), 6.87 million tonnes of wheat (38%) and 1.48 million tonnes of barley (8.1%).

As reported on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on Friday, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current year is 29.84% lower than the same period of the last year (from July 1, 2020 to December 2, 2021, 25.77 million tonnes were delivered abroad), the backlog has become minimal since the beginning of the year. For comparison, the previous maximum export rates were reached on November 14, when the backlog from last year’s values was the lowest in the last few months, 30.6%.

According to the ministry, from the beginning of 2022/23 and until December 2, 2022, Ukraine exported 6.87 million tonnes of wheat (2.12 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.48 million tonnes of barley (3.35 times less), 12,000 tonnes of rye (6.9 times less). At the same time, corn export rates exceeded last year’s volumes: 9.66 million tonnes were exported, which is 1.62 times higher than in 2021/22 on the same date, and flour exports amounted to 53,200 tonnes (2.1% more).

In general, on the first day of December, 0.2 million tonnes of grain crops were exported from Ukraine, including 97,000 tonnes of wheat, 89,000 tonnes of corn, 13,000 tonnes of barley, 100 tonnes of rye and 1,000 tonnes of flour.

As follows from the data of the ministry, for the last reporting period on November 28-December 2, an average of 222,500 tonnes of grain per day was supplied to foreign markets, while for the previous period of November 18-28 – 124,000 tonnes per day, for November 14-18 – 212,500 tonnes per day, for November 7-14 – 118,600 tonnes per day, and for November 2-7 – 178,000 tonnes per day. Thus, the average daily export rates for the reporting period November 18-28 increased by 1.8 times compared to the previous period November 18-28.
