Ukraine exports almost 23 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/2023 – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – From the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) and until January 2, Ukraine had exported 22.76 million tonnes of grain crops, including 12.64 million tonnes of corn (55.5% of total supplies), 8.41 million tonnes of wheat (36.9%) and 1.63 million tonnes of barley (7.1%).

According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current MY is 31.43% lower than in the same period of the last MY (from July 1, 2021 to January 2, 2022, 33.2 million tonnes were delivered abroad). For comparison, the previous maximum export rates were reached on December 2, 2022, when the backlog from last year’s values was the lowest in the last few months, 29.84%.

According to the agency, from the beginning of 2022/2023 MY to January 2, 2022, Ukraine exported 8.41 million tonnes of wheat (1.91 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.63 million tonnes of barley (3.2 times less) and 12,500 tonnes of rye (9.7 times less). At the same time, the pace of corn exports exceeded last year’s volumes: 12.64 million tonnes were exported, which is 9.5% higher than in 2021/2022 MY on the same date, and flour exports amounted to 69,000 tonnes (up 15.9%).

It is specified that on January 1, only corn in the amount of 15,000 tonnes was exported from Ukraine, other crops were not sent to foreign markets.

As follows from the data of the ministry, for the week of December 21-January 2, an average of 196,400 tonnes of grain per day was supplied to foreign markets, while for the previous period of December 14-21, an average of 134,300 tonnes of grain was supplied to foreign markets.
