Ukraine exports almost 40 mln tonnes of foodstuffs in 2022 during war – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. Jan 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and until the end of 2022, Ukraine has supplied 38.94 million tonnes of grains, legumes, oilseeds and their derivatives to foreign markets, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food said on its website on Thursday.

According to the ministry, in December 2022, 6.75 million tonnes of foodstuffs were exported from the country, which is 0.9 million tonnes, or 15% more than in November 2022. In terms of crops, 3.26 million tonnes of corn (61% more compared to November) and 1.55 million tonnes of wheat (1.8% less) were shipped during this period.

Export of sunflower oil seeds in December 2022 amounted to 467,000 tonnes (volumes are comparable with November), soybeans – 387,000 tonnes (volumes are comparable), sunflower seeds – 331,000 tonnes (17% more), meals of all types – 330,000 tonnes (4% less), rapeseed – 236,000 tonnes (41.2% less), soybean oil – 20,400 tonnes (24% more).

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in December 2022, 40% of foreign supplies of foodstuffs fell on corn, 22% – wheat, 8.4% – sunflower oil, 7.8% – rapeseed, 6.9% – sunflower seeds, 5.7% – grottoes, 4.5% – soybeans, 0.5% – soybean oil.

At the same time, in December last year, 75% of foodstuffs were exported from Ukraine through seaports – 5.07 million tonnes, 17% – by rail (1.15 million tonnes), and 7% by road (0.48 million tonnes).
