Ukraine exports over 23.6 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/2023 MY – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) and until January 9, Ukraine had exported 23.59 million tonnes of grain crops, including 13.26 million tonnes of corn (56.1% of total supplies), 8.6 million tonnes of wheat (36.4%) and 1.65 million tonnes of barley (6.9%).

According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current MY is 29.61% lower than in the same period of the previous MY (from July 1, 2021 to January 9, 2022, 33.53 million tonnes were delivered abroad), reaching the maximum intensity for the reporting period. For comparison: the previous maximum export rates were reached on December 2, 2022, when the backlog from last year’s values was the lowest in the last few months, 29.84%.

According to the agency, from the beginning of 2022/2023 MY to January 9, 2022, Ukraine exported 8.6 million tonnes of wheat (1.87 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.65 million tonnes of barley (3.19 times less) and 12,500 tonnes of rye (10 times less). At the same time, the pace of corn exports exceeded last year’s volumes: 13.26 million tonnes were exported, which is 11.2% higher than in 2021/2022 MY on the same date, and flour exports amounted to 70,800 tonnes (up 15.1%).

It is specified that since the beginning of January, 852,000 tonnes of grain have been exported from Ukraine, including 631 tonnes of corn, 193,000 tonnes of wheat, 27,000 tonnes of barley and 1,800 tonnes of flour.
