KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine plans to reach production of 50,000 chips per month three years after the start of construction of the factory, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration Valeria Ionan has said.
“Thanks to this, we will meet the needs of the domestic market, and also create a base for export,” she said at the Presentation of Ukraine’s Global Innovation Vision on Thursday.
According to her, production of chips in Ukraine will provide the majority of the country’s industrial sectors.
At the same time, specific dates for the start of construction were not announced.
Ionan noted that Ukraine would create a network of fabless companies (a company that does not have its own factory) for computer-aided chip design, which will allow it to enter the chip market and take a position in the global semiconductor market.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that in 2024 the Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to develop and present a chip.
According to him, the Ministry of Digital Transformation is working with various companies in this direction, but so far other details have not been disclosed.
