Ukraine may implement new logistics projects in Senegal to increase agricultural exports – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian side is making every effort to continue exporting food to African countries in the required volumes, and the possibility of implementing new logistics projects in Senegal to increase Ukrainian agricultural exports through the port of Dakar is also being considered.

According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, agrarian minister Mykola Solsky visited Senegal, where on January 9 he signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of agriculture between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment of the Republic of Senegal.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the document provides for the development of bilateral trade in agricultural products, cooperation in the field of scientific research, investment, relations between government agencies and private organizations.

It also refers to the possibility of storing Ukrainian grain in the so-called grain hubs. At the same time, the agency clarified that at the meeting Solsky announced Ukraine’s readiness to export not only agricultural products but also other goods to African countries. However, for this we need to focus on the development of logistics.

"The president and the government of Ukraine are considering expanding trade relations with the countries of West Africa, in particular, the creation of joint logistics projects. This will make it possible to predictably do business, stabilize prices and gain confidence in the quality of grain and its supplies," Solsky said.
