KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The railway departments of Ukraine, Romania and Moldova have developed a number of measures to improve cargo transportation in the direction of Reni-Giurgiulesti-Galati and back, the Moldovan state operator Calea Ferată din Moldova said on Facebook.
According to the report, a trilateral meeting of railway operators took place in Chisinau on November 8-9, at which they agreed on non-stop passage through Reni station, coordination of traffic volumes five days before their implementation, transfer of full combined trains in 50-60 wagons (from Moldova to Romania), trilateral exchange of information on the movement of wagons and the daily processing capacity of terminals-recipients in Galati, as well as the integration of recipient terminals in Galati into the AS Mesplan.
“The implementation of such actions will give a number of advantages, in particular, an increase in the capacity of the Giurgiulesti-Galati border checkpoint by three times, a reduction in the time of movement of wagons between the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania by two to three days and a reduction in transport costs,” the Moldovan operator summed up.
