KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine plans to put into operation by the next autumn-winter period, in order to decentralize the energy sector, more than 300 MW of gas turbines and generators for combined heat and electricity production, Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said.
“We plan to enter the next heating season 2024/2025 with gas turbines/generators with a total capacity of more than 300 MW for combined heat and power production,” Haluschenko said, as quoted in a ministry release.
At the same time, the minister noted that Ukraine needs foreign assistance in preparing a comprehensive plan for creating a distributed energy system and better grid management, as well as supporting its implementation.
The Minister of Energy emphasized that in preparation for the 2024/2025 heating season, large-scale decentralization of generation should be carried out, maximum support should be provided for the transition of existing generation technologies to more efficient and flexible ones, focused on base load and peak consumption.
