Ukraine puts Ust-Dunaisk port up for sale

KYIV. Dec 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) has prepared the privatization of the Ust-Dunaisk commercial seaport, which will be the first sale of a seaport since Ukraine’s independence, the SPF website reported.

According to the announcement, the auction will take place on January 17 at ProZorro.Sale. The starting price is UAH 60 million.

"This year, Ust-Dunaisk began to play a crucial role in global food security … It has great potential for the development of Ukrainian food exports. This requires investments that private business can bring," head of the fund Rustem Umerov said.

The State Property Fund noted that since the beginning of the port’s operation under war conditions, it has transshipped 153,000 tonnes of grain for export. In addition, Ust-Dunaisk handles imported goods, for example, salt, rice.

Since April 1, the port has handled 58,300 tonnes of imported consumer goods.

At the same time, in January-September 2022, Ust-Dunaisk received UAH 848,000 of net profit. In January-November, it paid over UAH 9 million in taxes to the budgets of all levels.

The port itself consists of three assets: the port in the city of Vilkove, Odesa region, the port station Kiliya in the city of the same name, and the service base for special lighter carrier ships on Shabash Island.

Direct loading and unloading operations are carried out at the port point of Kiliya, located at the 54th km of the Danube River. Passport depths at the berth – 3 meter, actual – 1.5 meter.

As reported, on November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to expand the water area of three seaports on the Danube: the port in Izmail, Reni and the port of Ust-Dunaisk.
