Ukraine ranks second among honey suppliers in EU in 2022

KYIV. Oct 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s share of honey imports to the EU in 2022 was 24%, which allowed it to take second place among exporting countries, Beehive reported on Facebook, citing Eurostat data and the European Federation of Honey Packers and Distributors (F.E.E.D.M.)

According to the report, in addition to Ukraine, the leading countries in honey supplies to the EU included China (36%), Argentina (10%), Mexico (7%), Turkey (4%), Cuba and Vietnam (3% each).

According to preliminary forecasts from Beehive, the total amount of honey exported from Ukraine in 2023 will be 5-10% more than in 2022.

“It can be noted that Ukraine holds its position in the market and has every chance to increase the amount of exports, taking market share from other major players,” the company summed up.

As reported, the investment holding EFI Group (Effective Investments) began selling Ukrainian honey produced by one of its enterprises under the Beehive trademark in UK supermarkets.

The production facilities of Beehive LLC, registered in 2013, cover an area of 5,000 square meters in Cherkasy region. The daily output of finished products is 40 tonnes. The company’s capacity is designed to produce more than 10,000 tonnes of honey per year. The production operates two lines: bottling into barrels and packaging into glass containers of various sizes for retail. Honey production complies with the international standards Organic Standard, FDA, IFS Food, FSSC 22000, and Halal.
