Ukraine sends 57,000 tonnes of wheat to Bangladesh

KYIV. Jan 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Saturday and Sunday, the ports of Odesa sent 432,000 tonnes of agricultural products in a caravan of nine ships to countries in Africa, Asia and Europe as part of the Grain Initiative, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported.

"In particular, the Honorine bulk carrier with 27,500 tonnes of Ukrainian grain for Tunisia and the Velvet bulk carrier with 57,000 tonnes of wheat for Bangladesh," the ministry said.

The ministry indicated that 19 ships are under processing in the ports involved in the "grain initiative", they are loaded with 630,000 tonnes of Ukrainian agricultural products.

At the same time, in the Bosphorus, 94 vessels are waiting for their turn in the inspection (69 vessels are empty for loading, and 25 are already loaded with agricultural products).

"The Russian side in the JCC systematically slows down inspections. Vessels are waiting on average for more than a month. At the same time, the T-Med bulk carrier with wheat on board has been waiting for inspection since the beginning of November last year," the Ministry of Infrastructure noted.

According to him, at least 12 inspections per day should be carried out for continuous movement of the grain corridor.

In total, since August 1, some 620 ships have left the ports of Odesa, exporting 16.5 million tonnes of Ukrainian food to the countries of Asia, Europe and Africa.
