Ukraine sows 4,600 ha with winter grains during week – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – By November 29, Ukrainian agricultural producers had sowed the main winter grain crops on an area of 4.5 million hectares (94% of the forecast of 4.7 million hectares), including 4,600 hectares sown over the past week on November 22-29, while a week ago this figure was 61,000 hectares, according to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

According to the agency, 94% of the planned areas, or 3.8 million hectares, were sown with wheat, 613,000 hectares (91% of the area) with barley, and 79,200 hectares (92% of the area) with rye.

It is specified that the agrarians of Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kyiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions have completely completed the sowing of winter crops, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad and Lviv regions are close to completion.

In addition, 999,000 hectares were sown with winter rapeseed in Ukraine, which is 104% of the previously planned figures.

Thus, by November 29, a total of 5.5 million hectares, or 62% of last year’s volumes, were sown with winter grains and oilseeds in Ukraine.
