KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is in dire need of equipment and materials to restore damaged energy facilities after another Russian missile attack, DTEK Executive Director Dmytro Sakharuk said at a telethon on Monday.
"Unfortunately, we have already used up the stock of equipment that we had in our warehouses after the first two waves of attacks that have been taking place since October 10. We were able to buy some equipment. The cost of the equipment that needs to be bought is measured in hundreds of millions of dollars. There are certain difficulties with the purchase of equipment. Now we are working on how to buy it or get it from our partners if they have the opportunity to transfer it for free. This problem is not only with us, but with all power engineers," he said.
Sakharuk also did not rule out that due to emergency shutdowns, a number of consumers may be left without electricity for more than four-six hours. "This [time] depends on the nature and extent of damage," he said.
As reported, on the morning of October 31, Russia carried out another missile attack on Ukrainian energy facilities, in particular, strikes were carried out on territories where hydroelectric power plants are located.
