Ukraine's agricultural sector attracts UAH 95 bln in loans last year – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In 2022, Ukrainian agricultural producers attracted 43,650 loans valued at UAH 95.47 billion under the Affordable Loans 5-7-9 program, according to a Monday report on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

According to the report, from the middle of March as of May 31, 2022, a special program for preferential lending for the sowing season was in effect, under which farmers could raise up to UAH 60 million at 0% per annum, and 80% of the financing was guaranteed by the state. In total, during the period of its work, agricultural entrepreneurs received UAH 24.72 billion in loans. Since June 1, 2022, applications for lending to the agricultural sector have been accepted under the Affordable Loans 5-7-9 program.

The leaders in terms of lending for this period were Kyiv – UAH 15.5 billion, Vinnytsia – UAH 10.2 billion, Kirovohrad – UAH 8.6 billion, Dnipropetrovsk – UAH 6.8 billion and Odesa regions – UAH 6 billion.

PrivatBank, Raiffeisen Bank, Ukrgasbank, Oschadbank, Ukreximbank, Credit Agricole and FUIB issued the most loans to farmers.

The ministry also recalled that the government of Ukraine has decided to provide financial support to micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises for the restoration of partially or completely destroyed production facilities in hostilities. Agricultural enterprises can also count on such support.

In addition, banks lend to businesses for power supply: the purchase and installation of equipment that ensures the uninterrupted operation of business power systems. Lending to such investments is made at an interest rate of 0% per annum.
