Ukraine's economy, seizure of Russian assets discussed in President's Office with chair of Open Society Foundations Alexander Soros

KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak has held a meeting with head of the Open Society Foundations, Alexander Soros, during which they discussed, in particular, issues of the Ukrainian economy and “joint work on the seizure of Russian assets and their further transfer to the restoration of Ukraine.”

“An important meeting with a great friend of Ukraine, an American businessman and philanthropist, Chair of the Open Society Foundations Alexander Soros. We talked a lot about Ukraine, the restoration of our state, the victory over Russia, the return of Ukrainian children who were abducted by Russia and the project of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Bring Kids Back UA. I am very grateful to my friend Alexander Soros for his vision and confidence in Ukraine, in our people,” Yermak wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

“We also discussed joint work on the seizure of Russian assets and their further transfer to the restoration of Ukraine. This is a key task for us,” he added.

According to Yermak, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Roman Mashovets, adviser to the head of the President’s Office Daria Zarivna, Vice President of Advocacy and Communications at Open Society Foundations Laura Silber, Director of the International Renaissance Foundation Oleksandr Sushko.

“An important issue is the development of the Ukrainian economy. Soros and I have focused on the reconstruction and restoration of infrastructure, as well as on the implementation of investment projects,” Yermak said.

The head of the President’s Office also said that the meeting discussed the situation at the front, the needs of the Defense Forces for victory. “We are using all opportunities to strengthen air defense. The veterans’ movement in Ukraine and the support of veterans’ organizations are very important. I am grateful to our business friends for their desire to help Ukraine. We appreciate their contribution to this victory,” Yermak added.

According to the head of the Office of the President, Zarivna acquainted the participants with the plan of the head of state Bring Kids Back UA for the return of Ukrainian children. “This strategic plan corresponds to the point of the Ukrainian Peace Formula for the release of all prisoners and deportees.” They also told about the crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian children in the occupied territories.

Yermak also informed about the bilateral meeting with Soros: “A very warm visit, a productive conversation. I am grateful for the constructive position in the interests of Ukraine. Important people are with us, because Ukraine is light, and Russia is darkness,” Yermak summed up.
