Ukraine's Ministry of Natural Resources starts testing online strategic environmental assessment register

KYIV. May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources has launched a test version of the Unified Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Register on a single EcoSystem platform.

“Digitalization will make the SEA process convenient and accessible, and environmental information open to the public, as provided for by the Aarhus Convention and other European directives,” the ministry said on its Telegram channel.

Digitalization will simplify the procedure because users will not need to prepare paper documents and communicate with officials.

As reported, on May 19, amendments to the law on strategic environmental assessment came into force, introducing the Unified SEA Register. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for maintaining the register on May 2.
