KYIV. Oct 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Five sets of equipment (passport stations) and 26 mobile cases for on-site services were delivered to 25 communities from Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the press service of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine reported.
“Five sets of equipment (passport stations) and 26 mobile cases for on-site services were delivered to 25 communities from Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv and Sumy regions. This will help make administrative services as close and accessible to people as possible,” the EEAS said on its website.
Reportedly, the equipment was supplied within the framework of the EU4Resilient Regions – Assistance Programme Ukraine, which is co-financed by the European Union and the German government. Moreover, under the Special Assistance Programme, Administrative Community Centers of 25 respective communities received necessary guidance and mentoring support from experts to integrate passport services through these technically mature and tested equipment.
By the end of October, a total of fourteen communities in Kherson, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia regions will receive workstations for the provision of services and the issuance of passports. This initiative does not include mentoring and is implemented with the aim to restore efficient functioning of the Administrative Community Centres, where equipment was damaged as a result of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The workstations facilitate seamless registration/de-registration of places of residence/stay and enable necessary changes to ID cards. The equipment not only collects biometric data for the manufacturing of passports intended for international travel but also enables the printing of passport certificates for domestic use. This support allows the Administrative Centers to provide efficient and reliable passport services not only to the citizens of each benefiting community, but also to people who had to leave their places of residence due to the ongoing hostilities.
