Ukrainian market of new trucks up by 60% in Aug – AUTO-Consulting

KYIV. Sept 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Sales of new trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tonnes in August 2023 increased by 60% compared to August 2022, to 419 units, according to the information and analytical group AUTO-Consulting.

According to a message on its website on Monday, in January-August, the market increased the growth rate even more by 68%, to 3,056 units.

“The truck market has approached the new business season at a very good pace,” experts state.

Scania remains the market leader for the third month in a row with sales of 98 trucks in August versus 58 units a year earlier and a market share of almost 69%. At the same time, according to the results of eight months, the auto brand is also in the lead – sales increased by almost 2.7 times to 477 units (in January-August 2022, Scania ranked third after MAN and Mercedes-Benz).

In the top three in August, there are Mercedes-Benz (53 cars versus 42) and IVECO, which managed to triple sales, to 43 units, and MAN fell behind by one car and took the fourth position, but according to the results of January-August, entered the top three with the sale of 322 trucks.

“But the record holder in August was Ford Trucks, which broke into the stable group of the European Seven and now ranks fifth,” the report says.

Sales of this brand rose in August to 32 cars versus six in August 2022. But in January-August, according to the statistics of AUTO-Consulting, sales decreased by 36.7%, to 93 cars.

The top-ten of the August market also included Volvo, Renault, DAF, JAC and Citroen.
