By KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Consumption of pork per capita in Ukraine this year will amount to 20 kg/year, slightly increasing compared to 19.9 kg/year in 2021, while the country will produce 625,000 tonnes of meat and meat products per year.
According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, this year the state has applied a number of instruments of financial support for animal husbandry, some of which will be continued next year.
These include the program of Affordable Loans 5-7-9%, grants for the creation or development of processing enterprises, micro-grants for the creation or development of one’s own business, subsidies for the maintenance of cattle of all types of productivity, a budget subsidy per unit of cultivated land for agricultural purposes (per 1 ha), as well as the provision of grants for the creation or development of greenhouses, horticulture, berry farming and viticulture.
As reported, as of February 1, 2022, the total number of pigs in Ukraine amounted to 5.56 million animals, having decreased by 3.4% compared to the same date in 2021. The data for the following months were not published by the State Statistics Service due to the start of a full-scale Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
In addition, as of February 1, 2022, the total number of poultry in Ukraine increased by 0.7% compared to the same date last year, up to 193.9 million birds, cattle – by 6.5%, to 2.7 million animals (including the number of cows – by 6.6%, up to 1.55 million animals), sheep and goats – by 3.3%, up to 1.09 million animals.
