KYIV. Dec 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in November of this year decreased by 6% compared to October of this year, to 5,385 units, the Ukrautoprom association reported.
“Obviously, the blocking of the border by Polish carriers had an impact, because of which the delivery time for cars to Ukraine increased, and accordingly, the expectations of cars by consumers,” a message reported on the association’s website on Friday.
At the same time, compared to November last year, the market grew by 74%, and Toyota remained the leader with registration of 854 cars – 8% less than in October 2023, but 22% more than November 2022.
Skoda took second place from third in October – 517 units (8% more compared to October; 90% more compared to November 2022), and Volkswagen took third place – 476 units (17% less; 266% more)
According to Ukrautoprom, the top ten brands on the new passenger car market in November also included: Renault – 383 units; Nissan – 309 units; BMW – 253 units; Mercedes-Benz – 222 units; Mazda – 189 units; Suzuki – 180 units; and Citroen – 178 units.
The title of bestseller of the month is still held by the compact crossover Renault Duster with 355 cars initially registered.
“In just 11 months of 2023, Ukrainians purchased 55,000 new passenger cars, which is 61% more than in the same period in 2022,” the report states.
At the same time, the information and analytical group Auto-Consulting, analyzing November sales of new cars, also notes the impact of the situation with border blocking on the result, but records an increase in sales by 1.7% by October 2023, to 6,098 units.
“November is traditionally a very powerful month for the car market. But in 2023, the situation with border blocking intervened, although even despite it, dealers were able to overcome the mark of 6,000 cars. Another question is that the growth could have been even greater,” experts state.
At the same time, according to their data, a sales increase of 87% was recorded compared to November last year, “when Ukraine was already fully experiencing the consequences of blackouts.”
The top three, according to the group’s experts, held their positions, but if Toyota sold the same number of cars as in October (961), then VW lost 10%, and Skoda, on the contrary, added 13%.
Renault, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki were able to add in sales, but Citroen added the most in November (64% more) thanks to C-Elysée, and moved to 10th place in the ranking from 15th in October.
At the same time, the report notes, Hyundai (27% less) suffered heavy losses in November, ending up in 11th place, where it had not been for many years.
In total, according to Auto-Consulting, over 11 months dealers managed to sell 59,000 cars, which is 64% more than in the same period last year.
