Ukrenergo receives UAH 2 bln in net profit in Q1 – CEO

KYIV. May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrenergo received about UAH 2 billion in net profit in the first quarter of 2022, Volodymyr Kudrytsky, the head of the company’s board, said.

"In the first quarter of this year, despite the large-scale destruction of the energy infrastructure and a significant drop in transmission volumes, the company reached UAH 2 billion in net profit. And this despite the fact that we had to compensate UAH 2.6 billion of the difference from foreign exchange transactions," he said at the briefing at the Media Center in Kyiv on Thursday.

Kudrytsky attributed the profitability indicators to the successful actions of the company on the balancing market, income from the sale of access to interstate cross-sections, and the profitability of operating activities.

At the same time, he noted that the company’s profitability was already outlined by the results of 2021, when the company received UAH 140 million in net profit against a loss of UAH 27 billion in 2020.

"Despite the fact that in 2021 our tariff lacked UAH 7 billion to cover all costs, due to the profitability of other operations, we were able to improve our financial result by almost UAH 27 billion, reaching UAH 140 million in profit for the year," he explained, specifying that this is not yet an audited financial result.

According to the head of the board, the company paid more than UAH 1.2 billion in taxes in 2021, UAH 500 million in the first quarter of 2022, and plans to send another UAH 120 million in advance to the state.

At the same time, he noted that Ukrenergo had already managed to restore about 90% of the destroyed energy infrastructure in the regions of Ukraine liberated from Russian invaders, including Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

"Energy supply was returned to about 6 million Ukrainians," Kudrytsky said, calling the volume of destruction unprecedented.

"We had to restore a high-voltage overhead line, which had more than 300 damages," he described the situation, adding that 28 power grids and 12 substations have already been restored.
