Ukrnaftoburinnia to challenge decision to cancel license for Sakhalynske field; production halt carries risks for passing heating season

KYIV. Dec 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PrJSC Ukrnaftoburinnia will challenge the decision of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal to annul a license for the use of the subsoil of the Sakhalynske gas condensate field (Kharkiv region) in the Supreme Court, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Ukrnaftoburinnia is convinced that the decision taken is unreasonable and is not based on the requirements of the law, and it carries risks not only for the functioning of the company, whose annual production is about 0.5 billion cubic meters of gas, but also for the stable passage of the heating season 2023/2024.

“Now Ukraine, for the first time in the history of independence, is trying to get through the heating season only using domestically produced gas. There is a war going on, and every extracted cubic meter of gas, every tonne of condensate or oil, every hryvnia of tax for the budget of a state with a destroyed economy is simply of crucially vital importance,” the company said.

In this regard, Ukrnaftoburinnia asks the Cabinet of Ministers and the Office of the President to pay attention to this matter. In addition, the company relies on the conclusions of competent law enforcement agencies regarding the situation, which directly undermines Ukraine’s energy independence during the war.
