KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrposhta has developed procedures for working without electricity and communications.
"Ukrposhta was able to work without electricity and computers when it was not yet mainstream. Therefore, we are returning to some procedures in the absence of electricity … and do not plan to stop working. We have developed all the necessary procedures that allow us to work (in the absence of electricity and/or communications)," said Igor Smelyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta, at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The company can provide basic services: paying utility bills at a fixed rate, issuing pensions and social benefits, processing all types of shipments, making prepayments for printed publications, and selling essential goods.
In addition, the company is already using generators, has received a number of Starlink terminals, and has purchased the first batch of 5,000 lights to operate without electricity, and will continue to purchase as needed.
Ukrposhta will continue to pay money transfers, but in the event of power outage, it will be limited to amounts up to UAH 5,000, according to bank requirements.
