KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia transported 600,000 passengers internationally during the summer of 2023, which is 48% more than the same figure in 2022.
As the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Thursday, in June-August 2023, some 310,000 passengers used its services to leave Ukraine, while 290,000 passengers entered Ukraine.
“Currently, Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Lviv, Poltava, Myrhorod, Oleksandria, Rivne, Kovel, Mukachevo, Chop and other cities have direct rail connections with European countries,” the press service quotes head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Liaschenko.
According to him, in the fall, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to launch a new train on the Rava-Ruska – Warsaw route, which will be able to transport almost 500 passengers daily in both directions. In addition, at the Rava-Ruska station there will be a convenient transfer to trains that will deliver passengers to Lviv.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia expects approval from Poland for the opening of an additional train route between Kiev and Warsaw, formed from cars of standard size 1-VM for Ukraine (4.7 × 3.4 m).
“In May 2023, such a train has already carried out test runs. The launch of this route will allow us to double or triple the supply of seats for direct communication between the capitals of the two countries,” Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
